1. Purpose
This Intellectual Property Policy explains the ownership of, and permitted uses relating to, intellectual property on PlanFolks — including our platform, brand, and User-submitted content.
2. Definitions
- PlanFolks IP — all intellectual property owned by PlanFolks, including software, source code, design, trademarks, logos, and documentation.
- User Content — any Content submitted by a User to the Service.
- Marks — the "PlanFolks" name, logo, and associated brand assets.
3. PlanFolks Ownership
PlanFolks owns or licenses all rights, title, and interest in and to the Service, including:
- The PlanFolks mobile application and website, including all source code, object code, and underlying architecture.
- The "PlanFolks" name, logo, taglines, and visual design elements.
- All documentation, marketing materials, and original content created by PlanFolks.
Nothing in these Policies transfers ownership of any PlanFolks IP to Users. You are granted only the limited license described in our Terms and Conditions to use the Service for its intended purpose.
4. User Content License
You retain ownership of the Content you create and submit to PlanFolks (photos, bios, travel plans, messages, feed posts). By submitting Content, you grant PlanFolks a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting/display purposes), publish, and display your Content, solely to operate, provide, promote, and improve the Service.
This license:
- Terminates for public-facing purposes when you delete the relevant Content or your account, except where retained copies exist in other Users' conversations, cached systems, or as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.
- Does not permit PlanFolks to sell your Content to third parties for their independent use.
- Does not affect your ownership or your ability to use your own Content elsewhere.
5. Trademark Usage
"PlanFolks" and our logo are trademarks (registered or unregistered, as applicable) of PlanFolks. You may not:
- Use the PlanFolks name, logo, or brand assets in a way that implies endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation without our prior written consent.
- Register any domain name, social media handle, or business name incorporating "PlanFolks" or a confusingly similar variation.
- Modify, distort, or combine our logo with other marks without permission.
Press and media may use the PlanFolks name and logo for accurate editorial reporting under fair use principles, provided such use does not imply endorsement.
6. Copyright
All original content created by PlanFolks (excluding User Content) is protected by copyright law and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used to create derivative works without our prior written permission, except as permitted under applicable fair use/fair dealing exceptions.
For copyright infringement concerns relating to User Content, see our Copyright Policy and DMCA Policy.
7. Brand Assets
Requests to use PlanFolks brand assets (logo, screenshots, name) for legitimate purposes (press, integrations, partnerships) should be directed to hello@planfolks.com. We will provide brand guidelines and approved assets on a case-by-case basis.
